Speaker Bio (200 words)
Shortly after being diagnosed with ADHD in my sixties, I discovered Zumba, a high energy workout that improved my mood, reduced my stress, increased my focus and strengthened my coordination and balance in a party-like, socially engaged atmosphere that encouraged fun and consistent exercise. In 2019, at age seventy-one, I became a certified Zumba instructor at a weekend retreat in Texas with Kass Martin, a world renowned Zumba trainer. Four years later, my daily Zumba classes took on a whole new meaning as they, along with monthly therapy sessions, became a cornerstone of my ADHD self-care as I no longer could rely on ADHD medications due to multiple cardiovascular issues.
Today, I am a full-time writer. Having discovered Zumba around the same time that I was diagnosed with ADHD, it plays a large role in my upcoming memoir, Embracing Your Rollercoaster: Navigating ADHD Across a Lifetime, Challenges and Triumphs (October 2026).
I am also a former attorney and real estate developer with a multidisciplinary background in law, architecture, and construction, holding an AA, BA, JD, and MArch, proving my high school guidance counselors wrong when they said I wasn’t college material because of lousy SAT scores.
