Name
“Regulating in Real Time: DBT Skills for ADHD”
Description
Individuals with ADHD often experience rapid emotional escalation and difficulty returning to baseline once overwhelmed. While DBT offers effective tools for regulation, these skills are often taught conceptually rather than practiced in ways that feel accessible in real time. This experiential wellness session focuses on practicing DBT-informed regulation strategies designed specifically for ADHD brains. Participants will actively engage in brief, structured exercises incorporating movement, sensory input, breath, and grounding techniques to support nervous system regulation. Practices will include adapted TIPP skills, movement-based grounding, and sensory-focused mindfulness strategies that are simple, engaging, and immediately applicable. Emphasis is placed on low cognitive load and active participation, making skills easier to access outside of the session. Participants will leave with a felt sense of how to regulate in the moment, along with a small set of practical, go-to strategies for managing overwhelm in daily life.
