Name
ADHD & Addiction: Peer Support for Dual Journeys
Description
This peer support group offers a psychologically safe, trauma-informed space for individuals navigating ADHD and substance use or recovery in any form—including abstinence, harm reduction, or questioning their relationship with substances.
Facilitated by two clinicians with lived experience of ADHD and recovery, this session centers on connection over correction, and understanding over judgment. Participants are invited to explore how ADHD-related differences—such as impulsivity, emotional intensity, and executive functioning challenges—intersect with substance use, coping, and recovery.
Together, we will gently unpack themes such as shame, guilt, rejection sensitivity, and the belief of being “too much” or “not enough,” while also honoring the resilience, insight, and adaptability that often emerge from these lived experiences.
This is not a lecture, but a guided, choice-based conversation. Participants are welcome to share, listen, or simply reflect. Attendees will leave with a greater sense of belonging, practical peer-informed strategies, and a more compassionate understanding of themselves and their journey.
