Dr. Jane Indergaard is a retired associate professor of nursing and Scholar in Residence at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, with more than four decades of clinical nursing practice and 37 years in higher education. Her expertise includes behavioral health nursing and critical care/emergency trauma nursing, along with experience in research review, evidence-based practice, psychoeducation, and translating research into practical clinical and educational applications. Her advocacy work is grounded in nursing, education, governance, and community leadership, and informed by global health and education initiatives that advance nursing practice and behavioral health outreach, with a focus on policies that produce human-centered, evidence-informed outcomes for individuals, families, and communities. A nationally and internationally recognized speaker on attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Dr. Indergaard has more than 22 years of experience in education, advocacy, and outreach for individuals and families affected by ADHD. She serves on CHADD’s national Board of Directors, the editorial advisory board for ATTENTION Magazine, and as co-chair of CHADD’s Advocacy and Public Policy Committee. She is also the local co-founder of the award-winning Red River Valley CHADD chapter and was an inaugural participant in Chris Zeigler Dendy’s national ADHD advocacy training program. Her perspective is also shaped by lived experience as a woman diagnosed later in life with ADHD and as a parent, with her husband, of three children with ADHD—strengthening her commitment to advancing access, quality, and continuity of care across the lifespan. Her work emphasizes bridging research, clinical care, and public policy to drive meaningful, sustainable change for individuals and families affected by ADHD.
