Kristy Cheney is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and the founder of Sunflower Counseling Center in Tomball, Texas, where she specializes in helping children, teens, and adults navigate the impacts of anxiety, ADHD, and trauma.
Kristy brings both clinical expertise and lived experience to her work. Kristy has several family members with ADHD. She understands firsthand the looking for lost items, the creative brilliance, and the daily negotiations that come with loving someone whose brain works differently. That lived reality doesn't just inform her empathy; it creates a drive to sharpen her clinical skills.
Trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Kristy takes an evidence-based approach to her work while never losing sight of the whole person in the room. She believes that understanding ADHD from the inside out allows her to meet clients and families where they truly are.
Kristy leads a networking group for licensed professionals in her area and is a Local Leader with the Women's Council of Entrepreneurs. Kristy has given presentations at several community groups and classrooms on a variety of mental health and parenting topics. Kristy is a passionate advocate for destigmatizing neurodivergence in every presentation.
