Name
From Different to Deficient: Healing ADHD Shame Through Integrated Care
Description
Adults with ADHD often carry a hidden wound beneath their symptoms: the accumulated shame of being misread, corrected, and compared throughout their lives. This session explores how ADHD-related shame develops from childhood through adulthood, how it shows up in perfectionism, masking, burnout, and rejection sensitivity, and how it quietly erodes self-trust even in high-achieving individuals. Attendees will learn an integrated model that combines trauma-informed therapy to address the emotional wound with shame-informed ADHD coaching to build practical structures, reduce activation friction, and use accountability in ways that work with the neurodivergent brain rather than against it. Clinicians and coaches will leave with concrete tools for recognizing shame in disguise, reframing intergenerational ADHD patterns, and using a strengths-based, regulation-first approach to accountability that helps clients rebuild self-trust through safety, structure, and sustainable support.
