Name
Task and Ye Shall Receive: ADHD-Friendly To-Do Lists
Description
Task lists are supposed to help--but for many adults with ADHD, they become overwhelming, guilt-inducing, and easy to ignore. Vague, stale tasks pile up until the whole system feels more paralyzing than helpful. This session explores why task systems often fail for ADHD brains and how to design tasks that support action instead of avoidance. Attendees will leave with concrete strategies for writing tasks that activate rather than intimidate, tips for managing reminders without going numb to them, designing systems with just enough structure to reduce decision fatigue without triggering inner rebellion, and when to prune, reset, or completely restart a system that's stopped working. This session is for anyone who's ever opened their task app, felt immediately worse, and closed it again. Although the focus is on digital tools, there will be tips for any form of task list. It's not about finding the perfect app; it's about understanding how to use any task tool in a way that fits you.
