Mental Time Travel and Executive Functioning: Practical Strategies
Description
This interactive one hour workshop equips tweens, teens, and adults, as well as their families, and the professionals who support them, with practical tools to strengthen executive functioning, emotional awareness, and motivation. Participants will explore the Four Steps for Executive Functioning, learn to distinguish between feelings and emotions, and practice hands on strategies for recognizing and tracking shifts in feelings throughout the day. Through guided worksheets and structured reflection, attendees will connect these concepts to their own lived experiences and learn how to use them to improve self awareness and determine effective actions in the here and now. The session incorporates real world case examples, small group discussion, and experiential activities that demonstrate how these methods can help individuals rally motivation, manage emotions, and follow through on goals. By the end of the workshop, participants will gain immediately usable strategies to support emotional regulation, future planning, and self compassion for individuals with ADHD and related executive functioning challenges.
