Name
Nature as Nervous System Support: Ecopsychology for ADHD Folks
Description
Many ADHD folks have tried conventional emotional regulation strategies with limited success. This session introduces an evidence-based but underexplored approach: ecopsychology and nature-based nervous system regulation. Emerging research demonstrates that nature exposure reduces ADHD symptom severity across populations. This session reviews key findings on how natural environments support attention restoration, explores the correlation between biodiversity loss and psychopathologies, and examines parallels between ecological diversity and neurodiversity. The second half focuses on practical applications: concrete ecopsychology practices and nature-based meditation techniques. This session discusses low-barrier strategies compatible with inconsistency and spontaneity. Practices are accessible regardless of living environment, from city apartments to rural settings. Attendees will leave with an understanding of the research base supporting nature-based interventions for ADHD, and actionable tools to experiment with ecological nervous system support in their own contexts.
